Your 401k Under Bush

I think we all know the last eight years have been bad for stocks but do you have any idea how bad?

1992-2000 - Under Bill Clinton the Dow Jones Industrial Average went from 3,223 to 11,497, an increase of 3.56 times. So if you invested $50k in 1992, your money grew to $178,000, assuming average returns.

2000-2008 - If you had invested the same $50k in 2000, when Bush got elected, the market declined by about 27% to 8,379 (on Oct. 24) and your $50k would now be worth $36,450.

Thank God Bush wasn’t successful in privatizing Social Security.  It may not be much, but at least it’s still there.
